Great Parenting Books
How to Talk So Kids Will Listen and Listen So Kids Will Talk. By Adele Faber and Elaine Mazlish. This book is a classic for a reason (and it's really a series). It very clearly lays out practical aspects of how to develop communication around feelings with your children. Some examples are dated, but the contents are still magic. Many libraries have an audio version.
1-2-3 Magic. By Thomas Phelan. Speaking of magic... I like this series for its simplicity. It provides a simple, positive introduction to establishing clear expectations for your children. This book is best for ages 2-12.
The New Peoplemaking. By Virginia Satir. A gold-mine on what is most important in rearing children and fostering mutual trust and love in a family, straight from Virigina herself. I could loan you a copy.
